I wanted to mark the special occasion of the midnight release of Halo 3 in a memorable manner. It was obvious to me that I needed to utterly and completely geek out. As one of the biggest nerds to ever exist, that’s just the way I roll.
I decided to color my hair blue to honor my favorite female character of this game, Cortana. It just so happened that the shade of blue that my hair was colored perfectly matched my blinged out Halo 3 shirt. I was a color coordinated geek! Does it get much better? I think not.
the best Cortana face I could muster with my high level of excitement
the hundreds of people scarred from my high levels of dorkiness

It was fun geeking out for the midnight release! I’m glad I did it. Cortana ftw.

You hair looks great!
What did you use?
I tried to make my hair blue last year… I used really temporary stuff, and ended up sweating it off (ew!)
Neat idea though… what were some of the comments you got, if any?
Love the blinged t-shirt by the way, lol.

I used temporary stuff as well. It’s called Bwild Temp’ry Color Spray in Bengal Blue. My hair is around the same length as Cortana’s (which is why I initially got the idea to do it) so I wanted to actually dye it so the texture would swing freely instead of being matted with a hair spray type product. However my hair is so dark I found out I would first have to bleach my hair, then dye it blue, then dye it back within the same week, which would just fry it. I didn’t want to damage my hair to that extent so I went with the spray on stuff. It worked out well because I sprayed it on in layers and just did a light coat so it would still somewhat move. Overall I was pleased with how it turned out considering I couldn’t do it the way I wanted!
Anybody that commented knew exactly what I was going for. Response was positive overall but I don’t doubt some people thought I was completely crazy. : )

“That mom must be buying this game for her kids”
Anyone give you one of those looks?

Awesome!
You should make that your profile picture at the top of the blog!

I wore the blinged out shirt too-and someone asked if I made it! It was funny standing in line listening to peoples comments in general and thier conversations!

So you like Cortana better than Miranda K. huh?
Posted by bs angel on September 28, 2007 at 1:35 pm
That’s cool we both wore our shirts Cayote! I wonder if the other girls we went to PAX with wore theirs as well. I bet they did!
I haven’t thought about that question before Asscan. Off the top of my head I would say yes, I do like Cortana more than Miranda simply because she is a more prominent character. But I chose her because she was fun to dress up as with the blue hair!

That is so cute! Awww…. :) And Stuicide , I hope you’re joking! I’ve actually been thinking about all that would be involved in making a Cortana costume… it would be awesome, but heavy with all the lights! (and you’d have to go naked with paint all over your body!) I think I’d rather make a body suit too! :o)

I must admit, your blue dye and Halo t-shirt made me think – lurvly! Your a very attractive woman, and I wouldn’t say your a nerd, just an enthusiast. Where’s the braces, the thick rimmed specs and dodgy hygine? Nah. No nerd here!

Ok, I’ll admit, you look hot! Love the hair, the shirt and the look on your face. =)
As for me, though I didn’t go out to get my Halo 3 copy for the midnight release (had the wife pick it up during the day), I do recall doing so while freezing by butt when Halo 2 came out. You should have seen the faces of the two police officers as they drove buy, asking us “What the heck are you doing?” It was priceless!
And Stuicide, come over here so that daddy may give you a good spanking!! ;-)

If anyone thinks you are a dork I will kick their ass. You look hott!

LOL …
Enthusiast. *ponders the word
I like it! That is what I am going to call myself now, although I’ll still probably add the geeky descriptor right before it. I am a geeky enthusiast. Fabulous!

I really dig the hair. Good choice with the Cortana look.

I did nothing special for the midnight release. Except thank the people peeling out of the parking lot with their Legendary Editions for their increased business at the pumps. (I was still in my Sunoco work uniform.)
