Master Chief, Play-Doh Style

Today’s Halo 3 final week countdown activity :
Make a Master Chief out of Play-Doh.
I am not a borderline geek. I am a full fledged look-at-me-in-all-my-geeky-glory kind of geek. Some days that is more apparent than others. Today is one of those days when it is glaringly obvious. Oh yes, the nerd factor is quite high. Prepare yourself for the incredibly geeky awesomeness that is today’s creation.
When I got ready to do today’s activity, I realized I did not have any pink Play-Doh. Obviously that was entirely unacceptable so I searched the internet for a Play-Doh recipe. I was dismayed to find out most of them required the ingredient cream of tartar which I didn’t have on hand. So my master plan of creating a brilliantly awesome pink Master Chief was thwarted. Instead I had to settle for the Play-Doh colors I had readily available to me. Red was the closest color I had to pink (“It’s not pink, it’s lightish red!”) so I went with that.
I should say what I started to do and what you will actually see are two different things. My first creation was an elaborate replica of his crotch armor. It actually turned out pretty good and was fairly detailed. However when I finished it and looked at the completed product, it was just a bit too much, even for me. I certainly liked it but wasn’t sure what everyone’s reaction would be so I scrapped it and went with something a little more safe. I decided to make his head. I mean his helmet. I mean, … forget it. Here is my creation :
Despite the fact that about halfway through it looked exactly like Pac-Man, it actually turned out pretty good. I have it sitting on the counter to achieve maximum hardness so I can perhaps keep it forever. Or at least until I get my legendary helmet. How cute would it be to have my Play-Doh helmet next to my collectible Spartan helmet?! Now that would be a Kodak moment.

lol! that is adorable! so cute!
i used to have a classmate that would eat play-doh.
Play doh is good to eat. My homemade play doh is smelling like cherries… I really DO wanna eat some, but there’s no sugar in it, so it’ll prolly taste bad. Here is our participation for today:

Amazing stuff.
I hope you have some pictures of the first attempt.
Nice work! And I too hope you took pictures of the other.
Well, I made an attempt at my favorite character – Half-Jaw, with a bit of a Councillor twist:

TBH I’m happy with the body, but the head is bloody hard to get right!
Those are awesome. I am amazed some of you tackled the whole figure. It is much harder to do than it looks!
finish the blob!
