Hawty McBloggy Public Service Announcement

Last week I changed my domain name. I have been considering it for a while but impulsively decided it was time. Click that banner. Go ahead, click it! Then look at the web address.
Oh yes, what used to be www.hawtymcbloggy.wordpress.com is now simply www.hawtymcbloggy.com. I did not announce it because everything was redirected and mapped so that all the links should still be current and active. It has been a smooth transition for the most part but there have still been a few minor snags.
Regardless of how you read me, whether it is through a feed, a bookmark, Technorati, or whatever your viewing preferences are, please give it a quick update next time you have a free second. As I said, most sites are redirecting just fine, a few are not. Better safe than sorry.
Ya know, I’m not sure why I dedicated a whole post to this. I am pretty sure my only regular reader is my mother and it would have been easier to simply called her. Oh well. Hi Mom! *waves
So, are you still hosted on WordPress.com and just bought the new domain, or did you set up a hosted installation?

Demagogue, honestly I’m really not sure. I am assuming I am still hosted on WordPress.com. I am so extremely technologically challenged. I used the WordPress service where they get the domain name that you want then take care of all the mapping details for you. I just had to pick my domain name and click a few buttons!

Just don’t accidentally type in hawtymcblobby like I do. LOL … Speaking of which, I should buy that domain name as well. For my own convenience.

Great move bs angel! I was wondering when you would buy your own domain since your site is so popular and someone else might have snagged the name already. With all the domain scammers out there you’re lucky it was still available! LOL!

I have been thinking about it for a while. I have kept my eye on that domain name for the last several weeks. Honestly, I didn’t do it before now because I didn’t want to put money into my blog when I am not making money from it, ya know? Plenty of people advertise, do pay for posts, stuff like that (which is fine but just isn’t for me) and monetize their blog. Since I have not, I have hesitated spending money on the blog itself.
So what I decided to do was I was getting ready to purchase those blinged guitar earrings for $20, and I impulsively decided to buy the domain name instead. That way I could rationalize that I wasn’t really spending money on it since I had that amount earmarked for earrings anyways! And it all worked out. Except I don’t have blinged guitar earrings. LOL …
