Saturday’s PAX Agenda

Today should be another fun filled day of PAX activities. I will be going with a good gamer buddy of mine who has a sweet pet name for me. He calls me a “raging bitch”. Oh yes, our friendship is very special.

These are the three main panels I plan on attending this afternoon :

The Social Component of Gaming Today
The easy communication of Xbox Live and VOIP turns even action games into social events. And outside any one game, publishers must contend with the organism that is the gamer community; the massive social network that roots out and castigates fake blogs, and elevates obscure niche titles like Guitar Hero or Puzzle Quest to stardom. How do publishers address such an inter-connected consumer society? How do gamers (and developers) deal with John Gabriel’s equation, “Normal Person + Anonymity + Audience = Total Fuckwad”?

Roosterteeth Panel (aka those guys that did Red vs. Blue)
Returning for their fourth straight PAX appearance, join Burnie, Gus and the rest of the Roosterteeth crew for a Q&A session… and perhaps more! But if they don’t deliver something extra cool, don’t get mad at us, get mad at them, because it’s totally their fault. Also make sure to visit their store in the exhibition hall at Booth #436!

Podcasts and Blogs: The New Face of Game Journalism
There’s no denying it at this point – Pro-Enthusiast outlets like Kotaku and Joystiq are here to stay, and they don’t follow the traditional rules of game journalism. Hear from both sides of the story, from the bloggers and podcasters themselves to the PR folks that have been quick-to-learn about the latest evolution in media.

There was one more I was interested in (I’m Getting Old: When Life Cuts Into Gaming) but they redid the schedule and it is now going on at the same time as the Podcasts and Blogs panel. Maybe they will rearrange the panels again where I can squeeze them all in. We’ll see.

I know you are wondering what I will be wearing today. Don’t worry, I’ve got the low down for you. Today’s outfit includes the “My Other Ride is Your Mom” shirt along with my super cute grenade earrings. Goodness, with all my weapon jewelry, it is a good thing this convention isn’t at the airport.
