The Xbox Domain recently did a short blurb on the newest female gamer undergarment to hit the market, “Achievement Locked” underwear. One of their editors contacted me and asked if I would do a short piece on my opinion on this product since I am of the female persuasion. He wasn’t sure if I would have an opinion on it; I assured him I have an opinion on everything.

I have seen these panties floating around the internet the past couple of days. My first impression was that they were simply adorable and it was definitely a must have. I love gaming related gear, from t-shirts to jewelry to buttons and everything in between. I have a few gamer undergarments that I love wearing. I will not divulge the specifics as I don’t think it is necessary, but I will say female gaming accessories of all kinds really appeal to me.
When I got the request for my opinion on this particular topic, I couldn’t think of why that would be of interest. It is new gamer gear. Take it or leave it. Then I opted to look at it on a different level.
These panties have “Achievement Locked” right on the front. Clearly it is a sexual reference. What is locked exactly? Probably her legs if she is still wearing them. Why that would be offensive to females is what I couldn’t figure out. Then the direct reference hit me. Is what’s between my legs an achievement? If you had the honor of finding out you would indeed know it was. But that is not the point.
It is a reality that some people view getting action as an achievement. There are plenty of males and females alike out there that are in it simply for the experience. In my opinion as long as they are two consenting adults, more power to them. Not every episode has to have strings attached. We are human, we are grown up, we have our needs. As long as both parties are on the same page as far as what they are looking for, I will not pass judgment on that.
For the people that are seeking conquest and doing so deceptively, that is repulsive. If they are telling the other person that they are interested in something they really are not (such as a relationship) just to score, then I frown upon that. Being untruthful for the sake of sex is wrong, plain and simple, and gender lines do not come into play with that. Unlocking the achievement when she doesn’t know that is your only goal is akin to getting the sniper rifle and superbouncing because you can’t get your kills any other way. Learn how to play the game the fair and honest way. Otherwise your victory doesn’t mean anything.
Do all of these things come to mind when I see these “Achievement Locked” panties? No. I really had to search to find a reason why females would be angered by a product such as this. I am not offended easily. Someone has to insult me directly and harshly for me to take it personally, otherwise it isn’t worth my energy to worry about it. That is my opinion on this particular garment. If you like it and it appeals to you, go buy it and wear it proudly. If it offends you for whatever reason, then move on and find something else that is more up your alley. Personally, I would love a pair because my achievement stays locked more often than not. Now I would just have written proof of that.
And while we are on the subject of “Achievement Locked” undergarments, I would love to see a male’s version with that printed on the backside. Now that would be funny.

a male achievement on his butt?? XD eeew. That woman underwear is meant either for virgins who just want to make their point, or as a tease. I would guess it would be used in cosplay. But those types of clothing would best be suited for a woman who is in a good relationship.

This is why I love this blog. bs angel, thank you once again, but I’d like to think that the male version of this product should be embroidered on the front with “Achievement Inside”. Just a thought. :)

I agree with much of what u say. As a 31 yr old man, I find the idea of ‘going along’ with someone’s interest in you just to get laid both morally wrong and ultimately unsatisfying.
I had an opportunity recently, where someone I was not attracted to was interested in me. I could have just gone with it and probably got laid as a result – but I couldn’t do it. I chose to stay friends with that person, as I believe the person I sleep with is also someone I am both attracted to and care for.

Now that’s what I call a lockbox.

Despite all the connotations that could come with the garment, I still wouldn’t mind owning a pair or two..and then purchasing the fantasized men’s briefs for kicks.
I found a shirt while I was out shopping yesterday and thought of you. I posted it in my dinky gamer-blog
Naturally, I bought it. Maybe a Charlotte Russe near you still has one in stock.

If the lady gamer lets her co op partner know she has an achievement locked, then she’s probably asking him (or her) to help her beat the game.
Do you see what I did there?

I see what you did there!
@ Tex
That shirt is amazing! Definitely one of the cutest girl gamer shirts I have seen. I. WANT.

Mmm, let’s see if they ship to Canada, then I could…
1. Order it
2. Get it delivered at work
3. Wrap it all cutesy
4. Sneak into bedroom
5. Place gift box on wife’s pillow
6. Observe reaction
^_^

Let us know how that goes! LOL …
(Tie the box up with a nice satin green ribbon so it coordinates with the 360 colors, that would be so cute!)

lol I agree with Silvercube.
What a tease. If any man is close enough to read what the underwear says I would certainly hope the achievement is unlocked.
How disappointing… :(
They’re cute, but I think the xbox clothesline designers can do better

[...] I saw these and didn’t know what to make of them. I don’t think I’m alone because lady gamers don’t know what to make of it. This kinda sends mixed messages to me because.. you know what? I better not get into [...]

You know what would actually be funny? An “Achievement Unlocked” door mat that faces your door.
Oh, man, I’m going to go weave one of those puppies right now.

I’d buy it!
