About a year ago I spent several days blinging my Xbox 360. I bought a denim skin from decalgirl and used that as my working surface. I went with a Halo 3-theme because I guess you could say I kinda like the whole Halo series. And by kinda like I mean I am 100% totally obsessed with anything and everything Master Chief. After pouring blood, sweat, and tears into this project for days it was finally completed. I named her Sweet Pea Posh and she was the most beautiful blinged 360 I had ever laid eyes on. My love for her was unrivaled.

A couple of months went by and Posh red ringed on me. It was heartbreaking, and after recovering a few times she gave up the fight. The faceplate could be salvaged as they snap off easily. The top portion of it however could not. To take off the entire top plate would have voided my warranty, which obviously I couldn’t afford to do with her being broken. I tried to gently pull the skin off but the crystals began popping off, the skin itself began to stretch, and it was ruined. I had poured so much time into decorating her and that was lost. I was not only sad, but I was bitter. I said I would never use that faceplate again and she has been sitting in my closet for the past 12+ months.
Last night I decided to pull her out. Finally enough time has gone by that my bitterness has subsided and there is no pain when I look at her, only fond memories. I did have to change her a bit though, I couldn’t put her back on as is. On the power button in her previous design she had a grenade. I scraped off those crystals and replaced it with a ring of alternating pink and white flowers. Flowers in Posh’s memory if you will.
The newly designed faceplate

The words on this faceplate originally took me approximately three to four hours to complete. Yes, three little words took that long. It was important to me that I stayed true to the Halo font so I had to find the sweet spot for the height of the words along with crafting them with the Halo feel. I first arranged them on a sheet of paper then transferred the design to the faceplate.

Recreated on my faceplate

I liked the original grenade, it was cute and violent all at the same time. However I needed to change the design slightly in order to bring her back out so I opted for something super girly in Posh’s memory. I went with an adorable ring of flowers around the power button, alternating between pink and white. It took me approximately two hours and I am very pleased with how they turned out.

Posh originally had an elaborately blinged top. The top design took me several days and hours to complete. Again, it was important to me that I recreate the image to the best of my ability, and I have unlimited patience when it comes to crystals, glue, and tweezers. This was her top, which is no longer.

Recreated on my console

In your memory sweet Posh, I bring your faceplate out of retirement. She wears flowers in your honor. Rest in peace Posh. I will finish the fight for you.

Pretty damn sweet.
Oh i know all too well about things i work on get ruined…
your art skills are phenomenal : )
Very cool!! I have been thinking about buying a skin for my 360 for awhile now. Nice to know it actually looks good. As far as the bling, my wife will be excited to see your pics and I’m sure will start thinking of ways to bling out our 360 too.
Thanks for sharing.
I love doing projects like this. I highly recommend decalgirl’s products. I have used their skins for my 360 and various handhelds as well. They are good quality and easy to apply as long as you take your time. Plus, it gives you a base to begin further decorating it so you don’t have to mess with the console itself and worry about voiding your warranty. My living room has denim accents which is why I chose the denim skin. It’s all about coordinating ya know. : )
This looks all sorts of amazing. Now to get the money for a 360. Or maybe I could go really hardcore and mod a PS3…

Wow, I remember this setup. I never new you had to tear in down though. Its a shame all that work had to be for not when Posh red ringed. At least you have pictures to show the world how creative you with those crystals. I like the new design. You always amaze me with your dedication to your crystals.

“…after recovering a few times, she gave up the fight.”
So I guess you brought out the faceplate to Finish the Fight? lol… sorry, I just had to get a lame joke in there…
Anyways, that looks awesome! It truly is a fitting tribute. If and when (hopefully when) I get a 360, I’ll definitely be looking here to find some decorational inspiration. ^_^

Thats the sexiest thing i’ve ever seen.
I miss the ‘nade on the front!
But it’ll be a good faceplate to have until H3 is finished!
Thanks for all the nice words!
I miss the grenade as well Stu. Scraping it off was hard but it had to be done. *sniff
You should have seen me at the game store when I was turning in my 360 and peeling the top skin off, realizing it couldn’t be saved. The workers there didn’t know what to do with me, I was so incredibly bummed. They felt horrible!
It looks great!!!
