How am I going to fill that time? I could look at this countdown clock hoping time all of the sudden speeds up. Could you imagine that? You are sitting there staring at the counter, getting mesmerized by the numbers speeding across the screen, and all the sudden it goes from 52 days to DING DING DING! September 25th. *pinches self
Sorry. I got lost in dreamland there.
A few months back I was scanning upcoming releases and noticing a bit of a dry spell for the type of games that interest me. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to get accomplished from then until the release of Halo 3 in terms of video games.
I made big plans for myself. Oh yes, I had an agenda. Way too many good games came out during a small period of time where I didn’t finish several campaigns. I decided now was the time. These were my goals I had planned on completing by September 24th.

F.E.A.R. - Finish campaign. I am only three or four levels in right now. I got frustrated with the save system and stopped playing prematurely. This game auto saves for you at specific checkpoints. It saved at a point where I had very little health and was entering a big battle. I tried several times to pass it but couldn’t even come close to completing it at the low health state in which it saved the game. I was too upset with the game to go back and restart the whole level so I instead shelved it. The levels that I did play were very enjoyable and deliciously scary. Alma just sends shivers down my spine.
Dead Rising - Finish campaign. Another game where the save system was not optimal and caused me to put it down uncompleted. It’s actually a great game and very entertaining, it’s just tough to find a place to save your game at times. The fully interactive environment is a blast and it doesn’t get much better than zombies.
Condemned - Finish campaign. This game’s lack of multiplayer made it a game that I went to during slow times but didn’t stay focused on. It is scary and a blast to play at night in the dark with the surround sound cranked up. It was an entertaining game, although using the forensics instruments was frustrating because they dumbed down the controls. We all know we could have succeeded with more complicated button controls.
Guitar Hero 2 - Several small goals. I will forever be playing this game. At least until Guitar Hero 3 comes out. I continue to set small goals for myself as I accomplish the latest one. Currently on my list of things to complete are getting perfects on all the easy songs (which is so boring, just busy work), getting perfects on all the medium songs (a little more challenging at least), five starring all the hard songs (I am probably about 70% to that goal), and completing my expert career. I have completed 30 songs on my expert career, I just haven’t gone back and focused on completing it yet. My list of goals on this game is so long right now that I spread myself too thin.
Lost Planet - Finish campaign. I shelved this game after level seven or eight. It was really fun playing as both the person and also being able to play in mechs but the story line didn’t hold my interest. To me it was one of those games that was fun to play through but you reached a point where you realized the story line was sub par and you quit following it. When I quit following it, I also quit playing it.
So, what have I completed off of my list that I made a few months ago? Well, I played Lost Planet for about a half hour last night before growing bored of it again and turning it off. I five starred a previous four star song on expert in Guitar Hero 2 this afternoon, but sadly that wasn’t on my list anywhere. Otherwise, I have done none of these things.
It’s time to get down to business! 52 days really isn’t all that long in the whole scheme of things. I feel like it is right around the corner. What will be filling your time until the big day arrives?

I will be working and working to get enough money to cover bills AND get an X-Box 360…*sigh*…
The task is neverending…

I’ve been playing a bit of:
perfect dark zero
dead or alive ultimate(orig. xbox)
lumines live!
ddr universe(i recently beat superior challenge)
scramble(i finally beat stage 5.. but didnt destroy the base!!)
gears of war (only w/ friends- i dont play multiplayer alone- thats a no no)
I am eagerly awaiting for August 28th, Blue Dragon (it will be my first rpg that i will have for my xbox360- i dont like buying them because i prefer multiplayer games.)
I think out of all the ones you listed, Condemned should be the one you focus on, because they are coming out with Condemned 2 and it looks AMAZING!!
F.E.AR. Just isnt much of a good game anyways, but you can play it if you like : )
I hope you accomplish some of your goals on your to do list while waiting for halo 3!
Until then, enjoy your virtual console w/ the wii! ^_^

I actually reinstalled Doom 3 and I’m almost done in Marine difficulty. I’m thinking about doing it in Nightmare. I finished Rainbow Six: Vegas not too long ago. Gonna do that in Realistic.
Working on some music. Working on buying some music. Lol.
Then again, I’m not really waiting for Halo since I don’t have a 360. I’m waiting for Orange Box though. zomg Portal.
Ha! bs angel. I made a list too!
I have decided to…
1. Get gold medals in all the races in Forza 2 before Bioshock comes out on Aug. 21
2. Finish the campaign in Bioshock before Halo 3 comes out on Sept. 25, and
3. Right now I am at 4610 games of Halo 2, I’d love to get an even 5000 games to round out my Halo 2 career.
It is kind of like a new years resolution. It will take some dedication and that all to precious time, but I think we can do it!
Nice to know I am not the only one making Halo 3 goals. Here are my goals:
1) Read Halo Novel “The Fall of Reach” - Done
2) Play through Halo:Combat Evolved on my 360 - In Progress
3) Read Halo Novel “First Strike”
4) Play through Halo 2 on my 360
This should definitely get me ready to finish the fight. The first book was actually a really good read. Looking forward to reading the others.
I feel you on FEAR girl! Crappy save points and that damn little demon kept me from finishing this title as well.
Condemned just plain scares the crap out of me. You are a braver soul than I lass.
Download and beat Marathon: Durandal in XBLA. See how Halo was born
Awesome! I have been thinking about doing the same thing Zoomy.
Everybody has some great stuff to keep them busy in the meantime. I just need to start focusing and getting this stuff done. I sit down to play and Halo 2 just calls my name. And of course I answer. : )
I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes seeing all those yellow stars in the Easy campaign.
I know! Isn’t that a horrible obsession? LOL … It’s the perfectionist nature in me. Such a curse at times.
I have a few games I keep coming back to…but have never completed:
Test Drive Unlimited is just a joy to play and I always seem to accomplish something…be it win an instant challenge race or a time trial…which is always good for boosting my cash and then buying a nice new car.
Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion - do you know ANYONE who has completed this mammoth game. I really have to be in the mood to play this. But it is a good game.
The Darkness - this is my game of choice at the moment. I can see me completed it sooner than anything else on this list.
…other than that I have F.E.A.R. which I have completed, and am getting into the multiplayer side of it - but there doesn’t always seem to be that many playing it!! Stick with this one though, as for gun-action and atmosphere, it’s excellent throughout. You’ll only kick yourself after when F.E.A.R. Files is released later in the year.
Oh and I suck at Gears of War on multiplayer, even though I have completed the campaign.
Next up for me I think: Bioshock, and maybe Forza Motorsport 2.
1. Buy and beat Marathon: Durandal (XBLA)
2. Beat Marathon: Infinity
3. Finish Quake 4 on Lieutenant difficulty.
4. Get the Road Warrior achievement in Crackdown
Doesn’t look like much, but I think it’ll keep me busy. (Marathon is friggin’ hard.)
My list is more Halo centric and along with what Andres Echevarria is doing. I will be re-reading the books and re-playing the games all in order.
Read “The Fall of Reach”
Play Halo campaign
Read “The Flood”
Play Halo2 campaign
Read “First Strike”
Listen to the ilovebees ARG radio drama
Wait in line for the game store to open.
I do have some time set aside for Marathon, yet its not critical to my list. I do want to play some other games in the time before Sept. 25th. PGR4 will be out and I will enjoy that. I have been playing a lot of Guitar Hero II, yet I am stuck on two songs in Expert. And yes I have about 10 perfects in easy right now.
I also will be taking the wheel in Forza 2. Although I tend to spend to much time painting cars then actually racing them.
Dren
I’m going to try and coerce college girls to come back to my place to play Guitar Hero.
Or they can play with my Wii….
You don’t have to tell me how much time is left! My husband has a countdown marked on our Chik-fil-A calender! WooT! I hope to something that we make it, psychiatric care is expensive this time of year…
