Another LEGO Adventure : Indiana Jones

I absolutely adore the Lego games. If you ever feel like enjoying some gaming by yourself (or even with your kiddos) and forgoing a night of battling foul mouthed randoms in matchmaking, they are a great option for relaxing gaming. The humor is very tongue-in-cheek and the gameplay is relatively simple with the achievements pushing you to play more competitively if you choose to take that path (which you know I always do!). I spent many hours happily playing the Star Wars version of this game. As a Star Wars fan and someone who grew up in that era, it’s a fun way to relive your favorite movie moments.

When I heard LucasArts and TT Games announcement of LEGO Indiana Jones: The Video Game, I knew right away it would be a must buy for me. I love the relaxed style of games as an offset to the more competitive games. When I tire of the trash talking and cheating that you find in random matchmade games, hitting a just for fun game in a single player campaign is quite refreshing.

I plan on watching Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade with my family in the week or two leading up to this game’s release (which is tentatively planned for summer of 2008). That way I can introduce my children to the entertaining world of this iconic archaeologist while freshening up on the scenes that will undoubtedly make me laugh during the game. It’s been a while since I have seen these movies, probably at least a few decades, and it will be a blast going back and watching them again.

I’m stoked about this game. It is a guaranteed good time. Kinda like your mom. Not appropriate for a family type post, damn it. I mean darn it. I mean, … Nevermind.

My friend was just telling me about this game. Unfortunately I have not had the same fun with the LEGO Star Wars games. What you say? Yes I played the first one and had a heck of a time with the bad camera angles. I spent a good portion of the game falling to my death. I have not played the second LEGO Star Wars game. I heard they fixed some of these issues.

I might give this new Indy game a try. Maybe even give the Star Wars games another try. Maybe.

When I heard you talk about this in-game the other night I thought someone had built an Indiana Jones out of Lego in real life … now I am not so confused. The Lego series game are the only games my wife has sounded even remotly interested in. I might pick one up to see if she might give my second controler some action.

I’m still saddened that there won’t be a Lego: Halo Trilogy game.

That would rock Tort, I agree!

Dren, I would give the newer version of Lego Star Wars a go. I didn’t play the first one (although my children did). I did play the 360 one though and absolutely loved it. Probably worth a rental bare minimum I’d say. Especially for a Lego fan such as yourself!

Skip the Bionicle one unless you are a humongous fan. The gameplay isn’t nearly as good as the Star Wars version imo.

I didn’t play the first SW:L game, only the second one. I loved it! I even got 100% on the blasted thing! I’m pretty pumped about Indy being in Lego format, too!

“It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.”

…eventually. Not sure if I want to spend a full $60 on it.
