I know, I know. What the heck took me so long to blog about the new pink 360 controller? You knew it was coming. And here it is. (And in case you were wondering why this article took so long, it is because I have been entirely too busy lounging by the lake and soaking in the sun to write anything new. I am currently on a very relaxing vacation. Be jealous. Oh yeah, the sun, the boat, the lake, and all the hot girls in bikinis say hi Stu!)
Microsoft recently announced three new Xbox 360 accessories. Two of them are wireless controllers, simply in different colors. The third is the keyboard attachment for the controller. None of these are must haves in my opinion.
The 360 wireless controllers will be available in blue and pink beginning in October of this year for $49.99. The features are exactly the same as the original wireless controllers; there have been no changes or improvements made on them for these new releases. The only difference is cosmetic with the color.
The shade of pink is nice enough with the new Xbox 360 wireless pink controller, although I would have preferred something a little bit softer. Will I eventually have a pink 360 controller? I can virtually guarantee that. I won’t purchase it for myself, but surely it will come as a gift for some upcoming holiday. Pink accessories are a staple of mine. If I use it and it comes in pink, it is in my collection. It will not be something I will buy for myself simply because I already have a plethora of controllers. I do expect I will see it sometime after it is released in a festive box with a big puffy bow on top. And I will love her.
Wait, ya know what? I do need her. Immediately after she is released. Remember my beautiful new custom painted faceplate? It is being displayed as a work of art on a shelf instead of being housed on the console. How cute would it be to have a matching pink controller right next to the faceplate? And next to that, my pink Spartan. What a fabulously pink presentation that would be. Simply breathtakingly stunning. I officially change the pink controller to a must have. Moving on.
This is the Xbox 360 wireless blue controller. It is not even a nice shade of blue either. Eek. This color of blue leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. I’m not sure what this color reminds me of, but I do know it’s something extremely unattractive that is not pleasant to look at. A new controller in a dark navy would have been nice but this color it is definitely something to pass on. Unless you are a fan of ugly things. Then it is right up your alley.
The third accessory is the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit which will retail for $29.99. It is expected out in September of this year. Basically, it is a keyboard attachment for your controller to ease the difficulties of text based communication. While it will definitely speed up the process of typing out messages, it is not something I feel strongly enough about to purchase. I have not once signed into their new messenger service nor do I plan on it. When I sign online to game, I want to game, not chat. While I do occasionally type out a text message, I don’t send enough to warrant the purchase of this product. I will say a positive thing about this accessory is that it comes with a headset. That makes the $30 pricetag much more reasonable. For someone that has had the 360 for a while and doesn’t need the headset, I would rate this as something to skip over. However if you are buying this console for the first time and you don’t have any accessories, it may be a wise purchase as you get both a keyboard and a headset to attach to your controller.
We all know accessories are good things, but only if you will use them. Or if they are irresistibly cute. And pink.

I knew all the hot girls in bikinis would say Hi.
Pics please! KTHXBAI
Very well done. I’m excited about new 360 stuff. So, I’ll buy it to have it. It would be odd for me to have a Pink 360 controller. Keep up the blogging!
my little girls would love that pink controller! i may have to pick that one up for them.
the blue one isn’t that bad IMO but i’d definitely prefer the halo controllers that are coming out later this year.
good luck stu!!
I agree about the shade of blue. Even though blue is my favorite color, that blue is too light and “chalky” I would prefer it being darker, like the s controller I have.
I actually have high hopes for that mini-keyboard because it will make the 360 a far more capable machine for MMO’s. Whenever I jump into Phantasy Star Universe (sad, yes I know), I still prefer to pull out my trust USB keyboard to communicate rather than use the headset. I think I do it mainly because I want to recreate my old Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online days
Now instead of straddling a keyboard on the couch or on my lap, I can just thumb type. It’s the sort of accessory that really only appeals to a small group of users, so it’s even more amazing to see it released.
And as mentioned already, it will be key to the 360 supporting any MMO’s that don’t support voice chatting–
That is an excellent point. I don’t play any games in that genre so that thought eluded me.
I have some friends who sit in a Halo lobby while playing WoW so they can have some voice communication. I know sometimes the communicating in various games presents a bit of a challenge, so assuming this a good quality product, that could solve that problem.
Great point. Thanks for the insight.
