Delectable Gaming Fare : Chex Muddy Buddies

If you have not yet experienced the divine taste of Muddy Buddies, I am so sorry for your sheltered existence. It is a popular Betty Crocker recipe that uses Chex cereal as its base and then adds lots of sugary sweet ingredients along with the main flavors of peanut butter and chocolate. Can you ever go wrong with that combination? Didn’t think so. The end result is a deliciously yummy snack that is the perfect accompaniment to gaming.

These are my basic qualifications to be good gaming fare :

  • It should be finger food that is easy to eat. If you are eating while gaming, you are grabbing it in between games, in between spawns, basically any second your hands are not otherwise occupied with your controller. If you are eating something with a fork, you are wasting precious time and could be jeopardizing your game! Always choose a finger food that is easy to grab a bite size portion.
  • It needs to taste good at any temperature. Sometimes you can get caught up in your game and forget you have a snack sitting right next to you. Other times you simply don’t have a chance to grab a bite except for every 15 minutes or so, such as when you hit pregame lobby or complete a level. Remember to choose something that tastes just as good at room temperature as it does when it is warm or cold.
  • It should not leave residue on your fingers. Nobody wants a greasy, crumby controller. First of all, it’s disgusting. Second, it could affect your gameplay. Unacceptable. Try to select food that won’t leave residue on your fingers after taking a bite. Cheetohs? Just say no.

This one fits all of those qualifications. It is covered in powdered sugar so it could potentially leave a film on your fingers, but nothing a quick wipe on your jeans won’t fix. Anytime I make this recipe at my house, it disappears within 24 hours. You may think this won’t taste good because it uses cereal as its main ingredient, but you couldn’t be more wrong. This is one of the most delectable gaming snacks you can make.

You could also place the goodies in a large cup. Then all you have to do is grab the cup and pour some snacks in your mouth. This would open your options up to those cheetohs if you wanted. As there would be no hand to food contact. These Muddy Buddies sound down right yummy.
