Making MJOLNIR Armor From Cardboard

A member of Half-Life Fallout by the name of “tastybread” has constructed wearable MJOLNIR Armor completely out of cardboard for approximately $26. What I was expecting to see and what I actually found were two very different things. The attention to the finer details have made this suit a success, and his obvious hard work and dedication is paying off. Check it out!

From Half-Life Fallout Forums :

So with Halloween being four months away, I decided that now was as good a time as any to start working on this years costume. Seeing how I work at Trader Joes and we have a limitless supply of boxes, I decided to save a few bucks and make the entire thing out of cardboard. After three days I’ve managed to make the entire thing and thought I would share my progress.

So for now, everything has been crafted out of cardboard. The next step will be to use caulking to fill some rough spots and then coat everything with a mineral water/elmers glue combination. I’ll take better pictures later, but heres at least an image of the helmet and the Assault Rifle:

  2. This is great work. I noticed the assault rifile doesn’t have a trigger. Did he do that for personal/artistic reasons or is it like that in the game as well?

I know! It is so awesome. Amazing considering the medium he used was cardboard.

Writeitout, I have no idea about your question. That link is to his forum post, which is still extremely active. I would just keep checking that site for updates and more information!

I only wish that was mine!

The creator of that suit is “tastybread” and he is a member of Half-Life Fallout. The best way to get in touch with him would probably be through that site.

oh yea. also im having trouble figuring out what material u used for the eye shield. i cant find a material that is reflective on one side, and see through on the other. if tastybread, or anyone else who know could tell me that’d be so cool, cause im stuck.

I just scanned the first 12 pages of that thread (I don’t know how many there are!) and I couldn’t find more information on the visor part of the helmet. I have no idea what he finally ended up doing for it. Good luck to you though and you should throw me some pictures when you are done. That’s awesome that you are making your own. I am not nearly crafty enough to pull off a project like that.

Yes, it’s probably my link! I get plenty of weird looks, although I think it is more because of my geekiness than anything else. : )

the helm..jus look at tastybread’s helm, study and analyze the sides and angles of how they form to make the front piece. its kinda hard at first but once u finish the top and base of the back ur good to go!

k so for the chest, i looked at a halo3 front view of the chief. then i drew it on paper. like the general shape of the two main plates. next i looked at how far down and across they went on him. so i measured myself, and enlarged my picture to that size. the other little parts of it were trial and error. but basicaly try to make it mostly out of one piece. and tastybread didnt really his like the chief’s real chest plate. his sticks out too much.
