From eBay :
Brand new in box LIMITED EDITION Halo 3 Master Chief Helmet purchased directly from a Microsoft Employee. 100% authentic made by BUNGIE!!
All HALO fans will know how collectible this item is. It comes with a serial number showing how limited this is. This item is not available to the public.

Legit? Not legit? More importantly, can you wear it?!
EDIT 06/29/07 :
This doesn’t appear to be quite the deal the seller is painting. It is my understanding this is simply the helmet that will be coming with the Legendary Edition when Halo 3 is released this coming September. So most of us will be getting this a handful of months anyways. Until then!

Legit? Sure. It’s a prototype Legendary Edition case. (I don’t know why they wouldn’t be sellable, actually, for anyone who’s gotten their hands on one in the first place.)
Wearable? Not unless you’re a cat. With a flat head. :)

It looks like it is sitting on the platform that the Halo 3 Legendary package comes with.
My best guess is that it is just the helmet and stand you’ll get for Halo 3 and someone got a hold of it. It is probably one of the pre-made helmets made for display to the press.
In short, not wearable but authentic in my opinion.

Speaking of helmet design, I’d prefer if it had some texture and colors straight out of the game. It’s a little ‘dollar store’ looking for something official (not to offend collectors)

If it’s a prototype, perhaps it will be improved before an official release? I also would like to see some texture such as some battle wear and tear.

I think you’d have to add the wear and tear yourself…
I imagine you’d like that helmet covered in pink crystals, lol.

There is a Razr phone sitting in front of it to show scale. Whether or not it’s a fake phone, I don’t know.

Wait, can you wear them? I have really been wondering that

Unfortunately you can’t. But that would be so awesome if you could!
