From TeamXBOX :
Capcom let us know today that starting next Thursday, June 7, the Battleground map will be made available for free:
Up until now, the lucky gamers that have the Collector’s Edition of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft have been able to enjoy the extra “Battleground” map which sets players in an abandoned town scattered with rubble from ruined buildings and features indoor and outdoor areas with multi-level vantage points. Starting on Thursday, June 7, the map will be made available for free download to everyone on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Multiplayer map pack #1 and #2 are also currently available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points per pack. Map pack #1 includes two multiplayer levels: “Radar Field,” a close quarters facility which is under construction and has a giant radar that provides a peak vantage point, and “Island 902,” a sprawling Pacific-themed battlefield with several islands connected by bridges as well as vast underwater areas. Map pack #2 also features two levels: “Hive Complex,” an abandoned mine with twisting tunnels and bridges set on a war-blasted mountain side, and “Trial Point,” a modern day office complex featuring a photorealistic backdrop of a busy city center.
Lost Planet sold 329,000 copies from December 31, 2006 to February 3, 2007, cost $20 million dollars to make, and spent another $20 million on advertising, marketing, parties, and promotions. Is anybody still playing this? *crickets chirp

Lol….I’ve never played it, but it looks interesting. I think it came out at a bad time with GoW making major headlines. Or not. I know some guys in our clan used to play it, but don’t anymore.
Anyway, I’m borrowing it from a friend this weekend and I’ll see what all the hype (or lack thereof) is about.

The campaign is fun, but I never finished it. I think I made it about halfway through. I will go back and finish it one day. I only tried multiplayer once and didn’t enjoy it enough to work through the new game frustrations. I will get this map though, because it is FREE!

im one of those who used to play it. Both your coments are correct in some way. For me, not having more friends to play it with, and some frustrating moments on campaign made me lose interest. Its a good game to play, but you need good teammates and a lot of patience. I owe this game the fact that I met my first Gunslingers (Steel and Force) and my adition to this community. So I will be going back at some point and drive those mechs.
