Worms is a cleverly balanced turn-based strategy game in which teams of worms battle across bizarre randomly generated landscapes for supremacy. Each team takes its turn to pick off the opposing teams using crazy weapons, tools, and other utilities, as well as whatever foul strategies they can devise.

Many people played earlier versions of Worms since it was first released in 1995. I had no prior knowledge of this game from personal experience though. A friend of mine who loved playing Worms on his computer found out it was being released via the Xbox Arcade and was beside himself with excitement. He discussed it so much that someone once said he talked about it like it was the next Halo 3. He made it sound so good that I blindly purchased this game without trying the demo.
I was hesitant at first, mainly because of its title (worms are gross and slimy dude) and for some reason I was surprised the first time I played the game and the characters were actual worms. Anyways, this game is ridiculously fun. The weapons and gameplay take a little bit of time to adjust to and the beginning stages of playing this game can be frustrating but once you begin killing other team’s worms more than your own worms, you are golden. Expect to master the suicides before you master the weapons though.
I enjoyed the challenge mode immensely and spent many hours beating it. There are 20 levels to complete and the difficulty increases with each stage. I have only played a handful of games in the multiplayer arena but greatly enjoyed them. The multiplayer portion of the game allows for 2-4 people to battle it out. I just need more friends that play this game.
Be warned, the gameplay can move slowly as it is turn based and each turn lasts 60 seconds so it is not a game you can play for hours on end. Besides that, who knew blowing up wormies could be so much fun?
The achievements total 200 points and are all very doable. I got most of them simply through the regular gameplay of challenge mode.
