Need for Bling

27 05 2007

Once upon a time, I had the prettiest, sweetest Xbox 360 ever. Her name was Sweet P. Posh. I spent several days and numerous hours dressing her up in the finest of outfits. I slaved over her appearance, applying each individual gem with painstaking care using only glue and tweezers. She wore denim with a deliberate spattering of pink gemstones to reflect my passion for my favorite game. Then she began to show symptoms of being sick. First she started freezing. Then she started giving disc errors. Next she gave her last breath and passed on. I was playing a game when she died. She suddenly shut down and refused to turn back on. I realized in a panic that my game was still in there and I tried repeatedly to eject the game. After several tries, I gave up and sat down on the couch to begin working through the pain of my loss. A few minutes later she abruptly opened her disc tray; I ran over and grabbed the disc and then she closed to never be turned on again. I was grateful for her last kind gesture to me of returning my disc. She was a good console. RIP Sweet P.

Unfortunately I could not salvage the top. The faceplate could be saved as it comes off easily but if you take the top off, it voids your warranty and obviously I couldn’t afford to do that as I needed a new console. I opted to retire the faceplate in honor of her.

I have not blinged out another Xbox 360 since then. I was bitter over the hours of work I put into her only to have it all gone. Several months have passed and I believe I am ready to bling again. However, I have set my goals higher this time. My next decorated Xbox 360 is going to be jaw dropping beautiful. It will take a long time to complete but I will pour my heart and soul into it and I know the rewards will be worth it. I have decided to start small though and begin a whole project of blinging. First will be my cell phone. Second will be my DS. I am undecided if I will bling my PSP. And last will be my 360. I will do them all in several shades of pink and I am tentatively leaning towards creating a simple pattern to be carried through each one.

I have already researched the best type of glue to use. I know what kind of gems to buy that reflect the light the best. First up will be getting all the supplies I need. I am not sure my local craft store carries the brands in particular I would like to use so I need to make a trip up there and hopefully buy them. If they don’t carry these products, I will purchase them off the internet. Then the projects will begin. I will post pictures as I complete each one. Know ahead of time they will stunning.

Such a tragic tale. I found myself weeping a bit only to have my hopes renewed by your steely resolve. I cannot wait until the day I have to don my shades just to dim the reflection of all the bling on you pimped out 360! :P

I too cried reading this! But only to rejoice at knowing what special faceplate you have now!
